Weekly Commentary
Data Reliability Has Been Compromised but Corrections are In Place

Markets extended their gains this week driven mainly by expectations of a Corporate tax cut. Now that the Senate has passed its  version it seems likely that a reconciled bill will pass both houses within a week or two, which should continue the bull market.

The NASDAQ Chart is showing weakness as investors rotate out of technology (down 2%) and into telecom services (+6.7%), financials (+5.2%), industrials (+2.9%), and energy (+2.7%) (Source: Briefing.com);

The site has experienced some data outages recently as both Yahoo and Google have changed their policies on allowing data downloads.  Unfortunately watchlists for Thursday could not be produced on Wednesday, and there has been some inconsistencies in the daily reports. I have worked  hard to find new, reliable data sources and I expect these difficulties to be behind us.

Because watchlists were not available for Thursday, one of the strongest days for the NASDAQ, breakout statistics for the week are more slim than usual. I expect the data source changes already put in place will lead to more reliable data next week.
