Breakoutwatch Weekly Summary 12/16/17

Markets closed at a new record high on heavy volume on Friday as it appeared almost certain that the Republican Tax Bill would pass the house and the Senate next week. The bill benefits corporations with lowered tax rates which is expected to improve profits and therefore stock prices and dividends. On Wednesday, the markets took the latest increase in the Fed Funds rate in their stride. The NASDAQ Composite rose 1.4%, just shading the DJI at 1.3%. The S&P 500 rose 0.9%  Breakouts were dominated once
again by stocks from the Cup and Handle and Volatility Squeeze
watchlists. A single High Tight Flag stock succeeded after an
unusually long and deep handle. Note that there were three
accumulation days in the handle just before breakout.
