| Number of Breakouts Reduced as
Volumes Dip During Holiday Week As this week's NASDAQ chart shows,
volumes this week were significantly below the fifty day
average. Because we require a volume multiple of 1.5 to confirm
a cup and handle breakout, this significantly reduced the number
of confirmed cup and handle pattern breakouts this week. A
positive aspect of the chart is that the NASDAQ broke out of a
cup and handle pattern to set a new all time high twice this
week, despite volumes being below average. The NASDAQ also
outpaced the other major indexes with a 1.9% gain over last
Friday's close.
